“Hiccup” means “little” So, why Stoic name him Hiccup?

I have searched and found that “Hiccup” means “little” in old Norse language. That’s a cute name but the thing that I curious is why Stoic (his dad) name him Hiccup. What is his inspiration? Did he found some part of Hiccup really small? 😆 Any idea?
