Unprecedent Healthcare Views (I)

Give life, have life.
Give life, have life.

The People

1. “Doctors think they’re God.”

2. “Why is the medical fees expensive?”

3. “Why can’t the Doctor save (my loved one), I’ve been paying them handsomely.”

4. “Where the hell is the doctor/nurse?”

5. (To be continued in Part II)

The Doctors/Nurses

1. We’re not Gods. We don’t know how people made that perception. But we’re far from it - we may look haughty but we are messed up inside, trying to have a calm demeanor so the people won’t panic or feel the same way. Trust me when I tell we don’t think like Gods, much less act like Gods. We just do the best of our capabilities and appearance to make you fill at ease and cheer you up.

2. When we were young just like you, we often ask the same thing. “Why is the medical expenses so expensive?”.Well, let me tell you now why.

    -Medical school is expensive

Imagine investing a lot money into medschool, but then later on in life what you’re getting is not even what you call a “profit”. You’re in a lose-lose scenario. And  that’s why Doctors/Nurses have a high pay to get back tons of money they’ve invested.  (Don’t get me wrong, that’s not the sole reason.)

    -Time is effort

Settling down is okay but not advisable when you’re in medschool. What if you’re life get ruined after your marriage with a wife/husband. Having kids and a family is another big responsibility.

Once you sign up for med school, you are committed - you are married to only medschool. Medschool is gonna be your responsibility. Not a wife, kids, house,or whatever.

    -A human is fragile

Imagine operating on a living human being. You had to be very careful, because just one mistake could end his/her life. But that’s why it takes a lot of years of practice and study. Moreover, also imagine her/his family patiently waiting outside hoping to be reunited once again with the patient. The patient and his/her family is your topmost priority/big responsibility.

    -Disease is free.

Imagine you being a doctor at the center of all diseases (communicable/non-communicable). You are at risk of having that same symptoms and later soon grows into a disease. So instead of curing/healing/saving lives other than your own, you’d end up doing the opposite. You’d become a liability not only to your patients but also to your fellow doctors/nurses. Healthcare professionals are brave enough to battle demanding patients and family, unpredictable results, communicable diseases, and other unwanted stress.

Before you(people) act or say any hurtful words to a healthcare professional, ask yourself this.

Who is going to treat this person? Is it me?
Do I know how it works?
If I’m going to make a tantrum/a scene, would it help?
What can I do to help?

Simple questions, right?

3. Again, we do our best to save lives, but also take account the worst possible outcome. We had to remember it’s not always sunshine and rainbows in  life - it comes with rains and storms as well. We also feel sympathy when things doesn’t go as planned- it broke our hearts to see what it had cost you, and the fact, you’re suffering for what our limited human capacity can do. So you shouldn’t tell us we are Gods, because we’re not.

4. We have a busy life, not a cozy normal one where we had to stay in the comfortable couch and watch something in Netflix. We’re not in front of you by the you called us.

It’s either we’re attending to other patients (urgent ones) or we’re having a 3-in-1 eating time.

3-in-1 eating time means breakfast, lunch and dinner for that day. The once a day meal. Sometimes no meal for the day, only at night when everyone’s about to sleep.

Author’s Note(me): Part II will be posted soon. I don’t think people like lengthy stories. Have a nice day. :)

@Hinterland Admin/Founder - Keep up the good work. Don’t forget to fix bugs and keep the end of the bargain (haha just[half] kidding) Fighting!
