A step forward or a step back?
Although this is great news and it is possible that The Great Barrier Reef won't be destroyed due to coral bleaching, is this better than focusing on the bigger issue that our modern society faces? Climate change threatends more than just coral reefs, so aiming to fix that issue instead of the bigger problem is pointless when the ice caps are melting and sea levels are rising. Clouds are able to store more water before it rains, causing higher rates of floods and droughts, and effecting crop farming. These all being the effects of rising tempretures. Sure we may find a way to save coral reefs, but is it worth it when all these other problems will inevitably get worse and worse?
We have to tackle the issue in all sorts of ways. But you are correct that we have the solution in our own hands.
