Salutes to working students in the Philippines

I have just recently graduated Senior High School. I have friends from across the world, mainly from Australia and we’ve been talking a lot and catching up. It struck me that although we are both just the same exact age, she accomplished a lot already. Mainly I focused on the question “how do you manage to be such a respnsible and independent person already given that you are just in High School?”

The culture of first world countries are a whole lot different from the third world for some possible causes:

1.) Minor students aren’t encouraged to work here, even in just fast food jobs for some part-time money! The youth is falling apart and we don’t even know it! Children are just expected to focus on their social needs and education. Although that is kind of fair but we are not pushing the youth to be independently responsible.

2.) It’s expected to finish college first before actually working. I mean??? Why not work while studying so that you’re already sufficing AND helping your family and individual needs. It’s been common in the PH to have the mindset of study to have a job, then eventually earn a minimum wage salary.

This why I say kudos to those working students who continue to set high standards for our youth. They don’t let colonial mentality set forth to their own, but they in turn use their own capabilities to not only be the best but also to be an asset to our country’s youth. With this, I am so happy to announce that once I was enlightened with this idea, I immediately applied for a job and got in! To my fellow Filipino youth, tayo na ang pag-asa ng bayan. Mahalin natin ang Pilipinas!

Ps. I have rights to own the photo (it’s me!)

thanks
