Cruelty free products

In light of my recent post, I decided to do a little research online. I had no idea how many products are stil tested on animals. It's crazy! 

July this year will see a ban on cosmetic testing on animals, which is fantastic. However, this ban will only extend to cosmetics (shower gel, make up, perfume and suchlike) so some manufacturers may find a sneaky loophole. 

The EU have banned animal testing for cosmetics since 2004 (Germany were the first EU country and banned it in 1986. Yay Germany!). Then in 2009 the ban included the ingredients not just the product as a whole. 

I had no idea how many companies in Australia still test on animals! 

When the ban comes into effect in Australia it will hopefully have a pinball effect and lead to other countries making the step to banning animal testing, not just for cosmetics, but for everything. There really is no need to use these beautiful sentient beings for this.
