Anyone else here a smoothie addict?

Anyone else here a smoothie addict?

I'm super busy running around that in the mornings it's sometimes hard to eat breakfast. What I've started to try and get into the habit of doing is making a morning smoothie. The green ones are the best as they have loads of iron and protein in them. What's more, they're so easy to make vegan. Just substitute regular old nasty dairy for creamy coconut milk or Alpro yoghurt.  Here's my recipe:  1 ripe banana  🍌  A handful of spinach leaves  1 teaspoon turmeric powder (or a couple of small chunks of turmeric root if you can get it) 300ml of a milk alternative. I prefer coconut milk as it's creamy and sweet) Optional squeeze of Agave syrup

I've always been a gym bunny, but I've noticed after telling my friends and family that I've gone vegan they're all like "but how will you keep up at the gym?" "where will you get your protein from?" "you won't have the energy to pump iron" "you'll lose those muscles you've worked so hard for". BORING!  For starters I show them this:  WAY more colourful than a slab of carcinogenic dead animal right?  THEN I show them this article: Can't argue with that huh? 😉

Everyone's Going Vegan

The great thing about making the decision to go vegan in this day and age is that there an abundance of people in the same boat. The world is waking up to that fact you can survive without consuming animal products.  Better still, there's a whole bunch of celebrities who are vegan. Hopefully they can inspire more people to make the transition.  Check them all out! Don't tell me they look ill and like they aren't getting enough protein.

Cruelty Free Make Up

Since making the decision to go vegan I've become more aware of the products that I use in daily life- what's in them, how they're made. I was quite shocked to find that a lot of the products that are staples in my day to day life are made by companies that are highly unethical and that STILL test on animals.  Not cool! The main disappointment was finding out that I could no longer use my trusty Mac lipstick. Even though they say that they don't test on animals (have a read of their website here) they supply their make up products to China, and China require products to be tested on poor, innocent animals.  What you need to look out for when choosing your products is that cute little...

Cruelty free products

In light of my recent post, I decided to do a little research online. I had no idea how many products are stil tested on animals. It's crazy!  July this year will see a ban on cosmetic testing on animals, which is fantastic. However, this ban will only extend to cosmetics (shower gel, make up, perfume and suchlike) so some manufacturers may find a sneaky loophole.  The EU have banned animal testing for cosmetics since 2004 (Germany were the first EU country and banned it in 1986. Yay Germany!). Then in 2009 the ban included the ingredients not just the product as a whole.  I had no idea how many companies in Australia still test on animals!  When the ban comes into effect in...

How hard can it be to eat vegan breakfast?

So, I decided to go vegan two months ago. It wasn't such a hard decision as I'd been vegetarian for around two years prior to that. I've tried it before, but failed when it came to cheese. WHY IS CHEESE SO DAMN GOOD? Anyway, this time I decided to give it a real go. I've watched too many videos that show what REALLY goes on in diary farms.  I've developed quite the repitoire of lunches and evening meals. I'll post some of those recipes for you real soon. But last Saturday, my best friend Samantha wanted to do a brunch for her birthday. Now, whenever I eat out for brunch I'll have halloumi in place of the meat. But what's a vegan to do? Well, surprisingly, there are actually SO many...
