TRAVELLING FOR CHEAP???
It’s almost that time of the year again where we’ll scroll through endless Instagram and Facebook posts about our friends on a European adventure or soaking up the sun in Bali while the rest of us are only living up an overseas trip vicariously through their Snapchat stories.
“Why don’t I travel as well?” You ask yourself. And as you check flight prices and ridiculously expensive accommodation and activities at your dream destination, you lay in bed, discouraged, because it seems as though travel is way out of your budget.
However, it doesn’t have to be. I spent 2 and a half weeks in a stunning tropical country, swimming with whale sharks, snorkeling, island hopping, visiting breathtaking waterfalls, resort hopping, sight seeing and most importantly, indulging in the food for $3,000AUD including my flights and accomodation!
By now, you’re probably wondering where this place is. It’s none other than the Philippines!
FAST FACTS ABOUT TRAVELLING IN THE PHILIPPINES
• $1AUD is equivalent to 40 pesos which makes eating out at restaurants super cheap
• If you enjoy the party scene, have I got good news for you! Cocktails cost around 95-180 pesos ($2-$4) at restaurants. Hoewever, some places such as resort bars may have their prices a few pesos higher due to a large amount of tourists visiting that destination
• The beaches are incredible in the Philippines. We sat by the beach at a resort and watched the sunset. Pictures don’t do the place justice, you have to be there in person to experience the magic!
