Dearest Stranger
I am sorry. I am sorry for the aching the world has gifted upon you so unjustly. I am sorry for when you feel lonely; I am most sorry for when you feel alone. Loneliness is too excruciating to go through on one’s own. The scars it leaves can only be healed by love. I hope you find it. Being lonely is nefarious, but being alone is something else. Friends will come and go, there will be times you wished they’d stayed, more times you’d wished they’d left sooner. Cherish them while they’re still here. You’ll miss them when they’re gone. You are not alone; I know the pain of loneliness all too well. I know that when pain visits, you greet it as if it had been missed. The pain on the shoulders is the wickedest. The world gets so heavy sometimes. As soon as they start staring, as soon as they start talking, the air turns to steam and every breath is harder and harder to take in. I know. You are not normal, normal is a group of sadistic people who label their similarities as ordinary. Fallacies. You are different, you are weird, embrace it. You are one of a kind. Behind their masks, they too feel the same as you do. The only thing we all have in common, is that we’re all different, and we all wear masks. Even the moon changes faces. It shields us from the pain of love, however, what is love without the pain that comes with it. Someday, just late of tomorrow, you will find the love of your life. Your kindred spirit will take you by the hands and the pain you have bottled for all these years will shatter. Your heart will set fire and your head will fill with smoke and the darkest thoughts of your minds abode that compel your heart to throb like lightning in the black of night will storm. That’s okay, they will be strong when you are weak. Be wary, there is no doubt in true love. You’ll know when it is; you won’t when it isn’t. We all tell lies, we all have secrets, we all break promises more than we make them. Be honest, be true, be you. That is love. You are not perfect. Perfect is just another word used by the masked. Alas, your true love will see your imperfections as perfect and your life will take a turn to a place you thought you knew, but happiness is so much more extraordinary when you’re in love. They’ll make you smile like your first kiss, like the first breath of petrichor of a summers storm, like the love you will share the rest of your life; and that smile you wear will forever glow, even whilst their eyes are shut.
I write to you my friend, to share with you these words.
The best is yet to come, it’s only a matter of time.
