TO THE GIRL WHO’S AFRAID TO LOVE 

I know the war you hide beneath your eyelids as the night falls on your tired shoulders. You silence your battles and shove them under the carpet - ashamed to let anyone see your mess.

You're not afraid to love; you're afraid of making mistakes and disappointing others.

But love, you're human too. I know you're confused and hurting. Sometimes you have to admit the truth that you, too, needed saving. I know you're used to crying alone but just this once, allow yourself to cry on someone's shoulders.

Be real. Allow youself vulnerability. Put down your book for a while and allow yourself to make a mistake because that's how you really learn.

Sometimes you don't have to be sure about everything; you have to take a risk. Don't be afraid to fall. It may hurt but it will be worth it. 

Break out from your shell, my love, for the shore is vast. The sand is waiting to tickle your toes. The waves are calling your name.

Don't let your fears stop you from living and giving and listening to the whispers of your heart.

Allow yourself to feel.

To break apart, if that's what it takes to be whole again.

Allow yourself to be happy.

To cry.

To learn.

To heal.

Just this once, allow yourself the freedom to love.
