Explore Manali, Himachal Pradesh, India— The Land of Gods
Hi fellas! I have a quite interesting story for you about my last project on last summer! I got an exciting and somewhat unexpected opportunity to go to India in order to Project Explore India in AIESEC Ahmedabad. The project started on 19th July 2018. Manali, Himachal Pradesh was the first place I’ve visited to acclimatization. I camp in Invincible Manali Base Camp, Kullu. This is an exhilarating experience altogether with bountiful nature around, stunning mountains, flora and fauna that I can actually get the best of this summer.
On 20th July, I did a trek and camp in Kothi. Kothi is an awe-inspiring destination, which is located at the foothills of Rohtang Pass, approximately 12 kilometers from Manali at an altitude of 2500 meters above sea level. Travelling to Himalayas giving me the perfect opportunity to observation climate change in action. The region is filled with many glaciers and climbers frequently have to travel across them to gain access to the high peaks. Climate scientists have published many papers recording the rapid pace at which these high-altitude glaciers are melting. Controversy has flared up about the likely date at which Himalayan glaciers may disappear but it seems one thing is sure: the majority of Himalayan glaciers are shrinking fast.
Unfortunately, I saw many pollution in the great Himalayas. It’s because of the global warming that effects of melting Himalayas, something will happen soon.
If there is a rise in the temperature of the world by another 1.8 degrees, over 2 billion people will be deprived of water and 20-30 % species of flora and fauna will come to extinction. This will gradually result in the death of people due to droughts, floods, heat waves, diseases and malnutrition. Owing to global heating, one reckons that it’s not long before the inhabitant parts of world will drown under water one day.
An alarming state for the living. The harbingers of the planet’s extinction are on the Himalayas are melting. Save our earth!
